The Douve
Five minutes from the house the Douve flows past. In autumn the sluices are opened and the marais are flooded.
Not far from our holiday home Maison les Grues flows the little river Douve. Herons, kingfishers, various migrating birds, dragonflies and coypu find an ideal habitat here.
In autumn the sluices are opened to let the Douve burst its banks. The marais are flooded and nutrients are returned to the soil naturally. From the conservatory and the barrel sauna you have a fine view over the marais and can watch remarkable natural spectacles in the cooler months.
On the water in summer
In summer you can be active on the Douve. Whether by kayak or stand-up paddleboard, the river also suits beginners. Would you like to fish? No problem: pick up a permit at the mairie and off you go.
For a picnic with your family the Douve offers pretty corners that are hardly visited. And all of that is less than five minutes from the house.
